The things people ask us most — about cost, color, craft, and how a project actually unfolds.
Every home is estimated on its actual surfaces and prep needs — not square footage alone. Estimates are free, written, and name the products, prep steps, and number of coats, so you can compare bids honestly. The details that change the price are condition, access, and how much preparation the surfaces genuinely need. We broke down the seven things that actually move the price in the Journal.
Plan on seven to ten years for a properly built exterior system near the water — salt air and marine fog set the pace — and eight to twelve years inland, where shade and sun exposure decide. Bargain work that skipped prep fails faster. Our Journal covers the early warning signs worth catching.
Yes — I PAINT CO. LLC holds California C-33 Painting & Decorating License No. 1101009, and we carry the insurance a professional outfit should. We'd rather you verify than take our word: our vetting guide shows you exactly how to check any contractor, including us.
We're based in Santa Cruz and serve the Monterey Bay: Santa Cruz, Soquel, Capitola, Aptos, Scotts Valley, Watsonville, Monterey, Carmel, Pacific Grove, and Seaside.
Four disciplines: luxury and new-construction painting, complete exterior systems built for the coastal climate, interior painting, decorative work — Venetian plaster, faux finishes, murals, hand-painted signs, gold leafing, textures, and faux finishes. We also install decorative epoxy floors and Venetian plaster. The full picture lives on our Services page.
Chromatica™ is our signature color consulting experience — a guided journey through light, mood, and intention to discover the colors that truly belong in your space, with every candidate scored on the Chromatic Energy Index. It's offered on its own, or included with every full I PAINT CO. project.
Color Resonance™ is our own tool, built in-house and used in every Chromatica™ color consultation. It scores every color 0–10 for Chromatic Energy (CE)™, composes palettes from more than 7,000 colors, and shows your space in your chosen colors and epoxy finishes before work begins. It's part of the craft — included with every Chromatica™ consultation, never sold separately.
Yes — it's a discipline we treasure. Murals, hand-painted storefront signs, logotypes, and gilded windows in genuine gold leaf. Every commission starts with concept sketches you approve before a brush touches the wall. Start with our mural commissioning guide.
Yes — it's the one thing we treat as its own specialty. Decorative metallic pours, flake and quartz systems, and solid commercial floors for garages, kitchens, showrooms, and schools. We also sand and finish hardwood and gymnasium floors. Epoxy & hardwood floors.
Yes — true lime Venetian plaster, layered, troweled, and burnished by hand. It sits with our decorative work alongside faux finishes, paint effects, murals, and gold leafing. Decorative finishes.
Five years on workmanship — and we pay for labor and materials, which the national franchises don't. Their standard is two years with the customer buying the paint for repairs. Ours also transfers once if you sell the house, covers decks and railings that most companies exclude outright, and includes a walk-through at eleven months to catch anything early. The full Signature Warranty is here.
Tell us about your project and we'll respond within one business day. Estimates are free and written: they name the surfaces, the prep, the products, and the coats — so nothing lives in a handshake. Comparing us against other bids? Here's how to read them like a contractor.
